Inside RENT pre-party @Moxy Hotel in downtown Boston

Boston marked a unique moment for RENT as the first city in its national tour, where it was presented at the Shubert Theatre for a record 29-week run.Ā  And, now, this Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning masterpiece returns to Boston in a vibrant 20th-anniversary touring production that critics are calling a must-see!

I’ve always had a thing for unique and quirky interiors, so my recent visit to Moxie Boston was nothing short of a treat. I had been wanting to explore this hotel for quite some time, mainly due to the intriguing mannequin display on its first floor. The charm and style of Moxie were simply impossible to ignore!

Walking into Moxie, you’re greeted with a plethora of distinctive mannequins scattered across the hotel’s first floor. It felt like an art installation that perfectly set the tone for the rest of my visit. This decor, which I’ve seen numerous times online, was so much more impactful in person – it was a moment I’d been building up to, and it did not disappoint.

Moving up to the second floor, the surprises just kept coming. The area boasted a fun and interactive foosball section. This unexpected feature provided another dash of quirkiness to the already eclectic hotel.

But the highlight of my visit was yet to come. During my stay, Moxie was hosting a pre-party for the 20th Anniversary tour of the iconic musical – RENT. The anticipation around the event was palpable, with the staff and guests buzzing with excitement. This event, I found out, had been in the works for an impressive three weeks.

Taking the spirit of the musical to heart, Moxie had fully embraced a theater district theme. It felt as though we were part of the musical itself, immersed in the backstage of a theater. In recognition of the musical’s 20th anniversary, the hotel collaborated with a local theater group, adding an additional layer of authenticity to the entire experience.

The tour of the hotel ended on an impressive note, at the rooftop. However, the final surprise was reserved for the hotel rooms themselves. Each room was themed around various films, and corresponding movies were available for guests to view. This thoughtful detail perfectly encapsulated the unique charm and creativity of Moxie Boston.

My visit to Moxie Boston was not only an exploration of an intriguing hotel but also an immersive journey into the world of RENT, on its 20th anniversary. If you’re in Boston and have an appreciation for quirky interiors and memorable experiences, Moxie Boston should be on your must-visit list.
